Isaac was a Timberman most of his life. He served in the Civil War in the 46th Virginia cavalry Company A. The 46th was organized in Feb.1864 with six companys. The unit served in W.L.Jacksons Brigade saw action in Western Virginia and was involved in various conflicts in the Shanadoah Valley. In December it merged with the 26th Regiment Virginia Cavalry. Lt.Col. Joseph Kesler and Major Henry D.Ruffner were in command. Most of the folks on Laurel Creek where he lived favored the South in the War. There was also an Isaac Tyler who was a Scout or Ranger that lived at the Fort at Point Pleasant WV in the late 1700’s but we are uncertain of a connection.
